The 9 Best Bars in Taipei

Taipei builds its cocktails on tea. The best bars in Taipei cluster in Da'an District, where eight of the nine sit, and four are on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, one in the top 50 and three on the 51-100 list. To Infinity & Beyond, through space-themed automatic doors on Lane 160 off Dunhua South Road, is No. 35 and sorts Mars Chang's drinks by texture rather than spirit. Nearby, Bar Mood pours Kavalan alongside Japanese whisky and uses oolong tea founder Nick Wu's grandparents grew. The Public House on Xinyi Road, an ode to the British boozer, serves a Ginza-style gin and tonic and closes at 4am. Lab on Ren'ai Road grows its herbs and takes no reservations and no cash. Wu (Nothingness), Kae Yin's menu-free bar in Xinyi District, keeps to classics with Taiwanese spirits, and Le Room at Mad House, Seven Yi's second-floor bar on Heping East Road and the successor to Room by Le Kief, takes reservations and walk-ins.     Le Room at Mad House

    Le Room, formerly Room by Le Kief, the bar Seven Yi opened in Taipei in 2018, is now on the second floor of Mad House on Heping East Road in Da'an. Once Yi's lab and prep space, the room seats about 14, with rotary evaporators and distillation flasks set around it. The menu is shaped like Taiwan and split into three layers: ocean drinks such as a crab Martini and a mullet roe Sour, farm and forest drinks such as Pouchong tea with candied roselle, and liquid takes on cold noodles and taro cake. Suki Salon, a tea cocktail bar, fills the ground floor. It was No. 46 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2020.

    William Wu's ode to the good old British boozer, with East Asian discipline: Ginza-perfectionist bartending and hand-carved ice behind a pub-warm room on Xinyi Road. Five house signatures run Public #1 through #5, food arrives late (fried chicken, risotto), and there's complimentary chicken soup after 2am on the way to a 4am close. It was No. 40 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025 and is No. 92 on the Asia's 50 Best Bars 51-100 list in 2026.

    Nick Wu opened Bar Mood in September 2017 as a cozy living room, the bespoke furniture was made by his parents, with a bartop garden the team forages for garnishes. Taiwanese produce leads: bitter melon, soy milk, peanuts and oolong reworked through rotary distillation and low-temperature cooking. On Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2019 to 2021 and 2024 to 2026 (No.37 in 2024), with the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award in 2022; sibling MEET by BAR MOOD pours at the Grand Hotel. It sits at No. 82 on the Asia's 50 Best Bars 51-100 list in 2026.
