The best bars in Taiwan reach well beyond Taipei: two of the country's three entries in the top 50 of Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 are in Taichung and Tainan. Vender in Taichung, opened in 2019 around vending machines, has guests insert a coin at the entrance to get in and greets them with a small Singapore Sling; it is No. 14 there, picked as the best bar in Taiwan for another year, and No. 79 on The 50 Best Bars 51-100 list for 2026. In Taipei, Mars Chang leads To Infinity & Beyond, a space-themed bar behind automatic doors at No. 35, where the GALAXY backlights red guava and jasmine-scented tea. In Tainan, former magician Nono Yu opened The Han-Jia on Ximen Road in 2020; its bright room builds on whisky and local fruit, herbs and tea, and it reached No. 41 this year, its first top-50 placing. Kavalan whisky is distilled in Yilan County for its water and subtropical climate. Bring a coin for Vender's front door. These are the thirteen we would start with.

Vender opened in 2019 in Taichung's West District, founded by Summer Chen and Darren Lim, and is entered through a working vending machine that hands guests a Singapore Sling. The menu is shaped like Taiwan and split into three layers: ocean drinks such as a crab Martini and a mullet roe Sour, farm and forest drinks such as Pouchong tea with candied roselle, and liquid takes on cold noodles and taro cake. Suki Salon, a tea cocktail bar, fills the ground floor. It was No. 46 on The World's 50 Best Bars 2020.

Five house signatures run Public #1 through #5, food arrives late (fried chicken, risotto), and there's complimentary chicken soup after 2am on the way to a 4am close.
