The 6 Best Bars in Chengdu

Some of Chengdu's best cocktails borrow Chinese flavors, from Sichuan spice to Ningxia red wine. The best bars in Chengdu gather in Jinjiang District, around the Taikoo Li quarter and the Chengdu IFS towers on Hongxing Road, with one more by Tianfu Square in Qingyang and another in the Financial City zone of South Chengdu. Four of the six sit in hotels: a Jazz Age speakeasy with live DJs whose house signature is a Sichuan Negroni, a third-floor bar with a resident band, a lounge that pairs cocktails with Asian-inspired tapas, and a wine bar pouring Old and New World wines by the glass beside a skyline view. Of the two outside hotels, one dresses in Chinoiserie and works apricot, rose and Ningxia red wine into Western classics, and the other, a New York-style tavern above a fashion flagship in Taikoo Li, placed 28th on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026. The hotel bars take table requests by email, phone or online booking. These are the six we would start with.

    Cocktail Bar

    Chinese Room

Chinese Room, or Yejuan in Chinese, is a cocktail bar on Qinglian Shang Street in Chengdu's Jinjiang District, built around a romanticized vision of Asian regality. Gilded ceilings, carved woodwork, burnished chandeliers, antiques, porcelain and a fireplace fill the room, staff uniforms carry rippling gold dragons, and the look is said to take its cue from Brighton's Royal Pavilion. The drinks team of Shuai Yang and Ke Chen starts from the Western classics and folds in local produce like apricot, rose and red wine from Ningxia, often poured into retro crockery. The bar's own account frames it as Chinoiserie rooted in Chengdu, drawing its flavors from Chinese culture.
