Jon Lee opened Penrose on Jalan Petaling in August 2022 and built every cocktail on five pillars, alcohol, flavor, taste, body and dilution, in a room designed for functionalism, simplicity and intentional service, with counter seating engineered for conversation. Named The Best Bar in Malaysia and No.10 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025. It currently stands at No. 64 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.
Enter through a pop-up barbershop in Bangsar Shopping Centre and Three X Co opens into Gatsby-era glamour, bottle-green walls, gold accents, a mural of a Chinese opera performer holding a martini and cigar. Head bartender Amanda Wan, a World Class Malaysia champion, runs the current 'IndiVDuality' menu of twisted classics and contrast-driven signatures. No.15 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025, No.32 in 2026.
Named for the stingless trigona bee and its prized honey, the Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur's bar celebrates Malaysia through hyper-local ingredients, a sustainability ethos that won it Asia's 50 Best Sustainable Bar Award in 2019. The original menu was designed by Ashish Sharma; beverage manager Alexandre Renoue leads today. No.39 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025. It currently stands at No. 38 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.
Reka means 'creation' in Malay, and this self-described postmodern flavor lab, opened 2021 in a residential pocket of Bukit Damansara, lives up to it: low ceilings and long neon lines, lab-grade ferments behind the yellow-glow back bar, and co-owner Joel Poon building drinks on salt, fat, acid and heat, with waste cut through banana-peel garnishes and jackfruit-seed pakoras. No.47 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2025. It sits at No. 63 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.
Named after the cocktail invented at the Aviary Bar of the KL Hilton, JungleBird opened in early 2017 as the city's first rum bar, a 'rumah rum' of rattan, bamboo and rainforest wallpaper stocking more than 100 rums, founded by four friends. Its Malaysiana concept takes inspiration from everything around it; No.37 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2021.
CK Kho's Coley is named for Ada Coleman, the Savoy's legendary bartender and inventor of the Hanky Panky, fitting for a Bangsar bar that has become KL's great connector, known for constant pop-ups, takeovers and international guest shifts. The range runs from boozy stirred brown drinks to a spiked soft-serve. Best Bar in Malaysia and No.27 on Asia's 50 Best in 2019. The latest lists place it at No. 83 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.
Cabinet 8 opened in October 2024 in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown, a speakeasy hidden behind cabinet doors inside a neighborhood cafe on Jalan Sultan. Every cocktail works in a Malaysian ingredient, from a curry-leaf margarita to Double Special, a savory drink modeled on the Ramly burger.
