Neal Bodenheimer opened a restored 1903 Edwardian fire station on Freret Street in 2009 and ignited New Orleans' modern cocktail renaissance in the process. The 2018 James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program confirmed what the neighbourhood already knew: Cure revitalised an entire corridor of Uptown still recovering from Katrina. Beverage Director Abe Vucekovich—before departing for Chicago's Meadowlark—set the creative standard that the current team sustains at No. 50 on North America's list. Cure is the bar that made everything after it possible.
