The award-winning Jigger & Pony Group has announced the launch of POP CITY X PONY, a new cocktail-first concept opening on Cecil Street in collaboration with The House of Suntory. The debut follows the group’s recent placement at No. 9 on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, marking a new chapter for one of Asia’s most influential hospitality groups.
More than a new venue, POP CITY X PONY embodies the belief that great bars are places for expression, discovery and inspiration. Designed by Peter Sillings & Associates, the bar blends Japanese artistry with modern urban energy, drawing from the music, fashion and subcultures that define contemporary Japanese culture.
The name references City Pop, the optimistic Japanese music genre of the 1980s. POP CITY reinterprets that spirit for modern Singapore, balancing creativity, sophistication and convivial hospitality while staying rooted in community.
According to Bar Programme Director Aki Eguchi, Japanese bartending is often misunderstood as uniform, when in reality it is shaped by subculture, diversity and experimentation. POP CITY X PONY aims to reveal that range with cocktails designed to evolve sip by sip, revealing new layers, textures and emotions.
The venue unfolds across four experiential zones. Byōbu Bar features a folding screen back bar framed by antique mirrors. Bar Mixtape offers an intimate, audio-led chapter inspired by Tokyo’s Golden Gai bars. Tasting Commons operates as a hub for tastings, education and late-night DJs. After Hours Salon slows the pace with Japanese elegance and relaxed conversation.
Bar Manager Sylvia Chong describes each cocktail as a narrative designed to spark nostalgia, excitement or curiosity, leaving guests with memories that linger long after the night ends.
