Bratislava’s Mirror Bar has been named winner of the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award at the inaugural Europe’s 50 Best Bars 2026, the first of two special prizes announced ahead of the full list reveal in Amsterdam on 30 June 2026.

The accolade, voted by the more than 300 anonymous industry experts of the Europe’s 50 Best Bars Academy, recognizes a venue judged to have delivered exceptional warmth, service, and guest engagement during the voting period. For a Slovakian bar to take it in the list’s debut European edition is a marker moment for the region.

A Bratislava Bar With Global Reach

Tucked inside the historic Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel, Mirror Bar opened in 2019 and has since become a defining force in Slovakia’s modern cocktail scene. The team, led by bar manager Peter Marcina and global bar ambassador Stanislav Harciník, set out to build a transportive experience that fuses tradition and timeless style with bold, futuristic ideas designed to evoke a sense of science fiction.

The Art of Hospitality win extends a remarkable run. At The World’s 50 Best Bars 2025, Mirror Bar took the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award and debuted at No. 25, an unusually strong arrival for a bar from Central Europe.

The Essence of Design Menu

The current menu, Essence of Design, reimagines six core principles of design – form, shape, line, texture, color, and space – through inventive, visually striking cocktails. Each serve is theatrical and maximalist, but the spec work underneath is precise: the team treats every drink as a curated adventure rather than a flourish.

Beyond the menu, what the Academy keeps citing is the floor itself. Genuine hospitality, attention to detail, and meaningful guest interaction are the through-line of the room, and that is what the Michter’s award is built to recognize.

Mirror Bar Wins Michter's Art of Hospitality Award 2026 Bar Interior

A Room That Reads Like a Fantasy

The interior is the other half of the pitch. Forest-green walls, emerald velvet furnishings, and rich wooden paneling frame an immersive space dotted with cabinets of curiosities and miniature bonsai trees beneath a lofted skylight. At the center stands a full-size tree by florist Róbert Bartolen, the anchor of a room that reads like the surrealist fantasy of a Victorian-era natural scientist.

What the Industry Is Saying

Emma Sleight, head of content for Europe’s 50 Best Bars, says: “In a short space of time, Mirror Bar has become one of Bratislava’s standout spots. With a seamless blend of creativity and precision, the team has crafted an experience that feels both elevated and inviting. This kind of recognition reflects the team’s hard work, creativity and genuine hospitality.”

Harciník, accepting on behalf of the venue, framed the win as a regional milestone: “At Mirror Bar and with our project Mirror Hospitality Expo, we wanted to share our view of true Slovakian hospitality with the global bar community. This honour is meaningful not just for our bar and team, but for Bratislava, Slovakia, and our entire region.”

Matt Magliocco, executive vice president of Michter’s Distillery, added: “Congratulations to Peter Marcina, Evica Domonji, Stanislav Harciník and the entire team at Mirror Bar in Bratislava. Their collective dedication to crafting unforgettable experiences sets a sterling example throughout Europe and beyond.”

What It Signals for Europe’s 50 Best Bars 2026

The inaugural Europe’s 50 Best Bars list, sponsored by Perrier, will be revealed on 30 June 2026 in Amsterdam and broadcast live via the 50 Best YouTube channel. Awarding the first special prize to a Bratislava bar, rather than to the more obvious London-Paris-Barcelona axis, signals that the new ranking intends to read the continent broadly. For Slovakia, and for the wider Central European scene that has spent the past five years pushing hard against the established cocktail capitals, it is the clearest endorsement yet that the work is landing.
