Cohibar brings a Caribbean and Cuban feel to the edge of the Graz university quarter, with South American sounds and relaxed service. The cocktail list runs from classics to new creations, and more than 150 premium cigars are on offer, alongside tortillas, tacos and burritos from the kitchen. Live music comes once a month, and a street-side garden opens in summer.
Kalte Ente takes its name from a 1950s punch of white wine, sparkling wine and lemon, which the bar reworks with Prosecco, soda and a house syrup of Madagascar vanilla and Austrian lemon balm. Behind the counter the team makes its own liqueurs, bitters, infusions, ginger beer and lemonades for a list of unusual and classic cocktails. There is a hidden garden, and payment is cash only.
Katze Katze is a cocktail bar at Schmiedgasse 9, entered through the Landhauskeller, with a courtyard season in the warmer months. The house pairs fine spirits with music and doubles as a club, serving only the originals, so no alcohol-free beer or sugar-free cola. Partner and mixologist Alexander Knoll and bar manager Magdalena Dröscher lead the team, and guests must be 20 or older.
Rangoon is a cocktail bar a few steps from Mariahilferplatz, built around premium cocktails. Tuesday brings live music, and the week runs to themed nights. Latin plays from Tuesday to Thursday, and oldies from the 1960s to the 2000s take over on Fridays and Saturdays.
The Churchill Bar has been making people happy since 2013, in its own words. The team aims to stay true to the original art of cocktail making while delivering unexpected drinks, with an Espresso Martini, a Negroni Siciliano and the house craft beer among its calling cards. Monday night is pub quiz night.
