Cocktail Bars in Vienna
Four of these six bars have won Austria's Bar of the Year at the Mixology Bar Awards. Truth & Dare on Schönlaterngasse took the title three years running, from 2023 to 2025, which had never happened before, and The Sign Lounge in Alsergrund won it in 2015 and 2016. Tür 7 in Josefstadt, the 2020 winner, sits behind an unsigned door with only a doorbell. Dino's Apothecary Bar on Salzgries, named after Dean Martin, is run by Heinz Kaiser, who brings a pharmacist's training to its house spirits, liqueurs and essences. Josef on Sterngasse is named after its owners' grandfathers. Bar Pani on Rossauer Lände takes no reservations. These are the six we would start with.

Set in an 18th-century clergy house in the backstreets of central Vienna, pairing true classics with bolder house creations to a hip-hop and '80s soundtrack. A weekly rotating Mini of the Week is served without revealing its ingredients in advance. The team also runs a second venue, Combo Bar, in the 2nd district.

A speakeasy-style boutique bar in Vienna's 8th district, entered by ringing the doorbell of an unmarked door. There is no fixed menu; bartenders build personalized cocktails around each guest's preferences in a dark, mid-century living-room setting.

Classic and contemporary cocktails, Sardinian bar food and a record collection, on the Rossauer Laende by the Danube canal. The house describes itself as real cocktails and no nonsense, and the short hours back that up: Wednesday and Thursday from five, Friday and Saturday from six.
