Belgrade, Serbia
Rakia Bar calls itself the first and the original rakia bar, and the room on Dobračina in central Belgrade is built around rakija, the Serbian fruit brandy. The house sums up its own offer as rakija mixology, and the drinks follow the spirit: plum, quince, raspberry and the rest of the fruit brandy range. Alongside the bar the house runs what it describes as an unusual gift shop, stocking rakija sets and miniatures, medovina, gin and liqueurs, wines from small Serbian producers, and jams, compotes and preserves made to traditional recipes without chemistry or preservatives. Rakija glasses, decorative vessels and Belgrade souvenirs fill the shelves, sold through the house's own online shop.
