Seven hotel bars, chosen on the record: two on North America's 50 Best, two Spirited Awards winners.
The poolside bar at the Freehand Hotel earned two James Beard nominations and a Best American Hotel Bar award from Tales of the Cocktail by treating its garden as a cocktail ingredient. House-made elixirs, syrups, and infusions drawn from herbs grown steps from the bar top produce drinks with a freshness that imported ingredients cannot replicate. The tropical courtyard, disco ball, mismatched furniture, sparkling pool, sets a tone that dozens of Miami bars have attempted to copy. None have matched the original's combination of craft and chaos.

Valentino Longo, trained at Stravinskij Bar Rome, the Ritz London, and Corinthia London before winning Bombay Sapphire's Most Imaginative Bartender in 2019, opened this Italian aperitivo bar at The Elser Hotel in 2024. The Negroni Sbagliato leads sales, the Affogato Martini folds housemade pistachio gelato into an espresso martini framework, and the sixty-seat room blends Italian heritage with Miami's cosmopolitan energy. ViceVersa brings a European aperitivo discipline to a city that was overdue for one. It won Best U.S. Hotel Bar at the 2026 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.

Named Best Cocktail Bar in Florida for 2025 and ranked No. 78 on North America's 50 Best extended list, this Collins Avenue rum bar at The Stiles Hotel builds its program around the Caribbean's defining spirit with a depth that casual tiki bars cannot approach. Regional Top 10 Honoree at the 2025 Spirited Awards for Best U.S. Hotel Bar (East), Swizzle operates late enough to catch the post-midnight crowd and seriously enough to hold its own against daytime scrutiny. The rum collection alone justifies a dedicated visit.
MiniBar is a small cocktail bar in the Urbanica hotel on Meridian Avenue in South of Fifth, a few blocks from South Pointe Park. The room has a short counter under a planted canopy and a mural, with extra seats in a courtyard outside. The list covers house cocktails, martinis and whiskey, with a daily happy hour from 4pm to 8pm and weekly whiskey and seasonal events.
Monterrey Bar is the lobby cocktail bar of The Standard Spa on Belle Isle, named after the Monterrey Motel that Norman Giller designed on the site in 1953. The small room is built around a T-shaped bar topped in Amazonite stone, with Afromosia wood panelling, a Murano glass chandelier and a set of 1980s pop art prints by Geoffrey Rose on the shelves. The list is mostly stirred drinks and twists on classics, with a Japanese and Chinese leaning bar menu, a weekday aperitivo hour and vinyl sets on weekends.
Vecinos is the bar of Hotel Trouvail, an Art Deco hotel on Indian Creek in Mid-Beach, with seats in the lobby and on a patio under striped umbrellas facing the creek. The cocktail list comes from the team behind Medium Cool with bartender Christine Wiseman, and runs from martinis made with avocado oil washed gin to a plantain Campari Negroni built on tequila. Food is by the Caracas Bakery team, with Venezuelan and Spanish small plates, bread and a burger.
Water Lion is a small wine bar in the lobby of The Sagamore Hotel on Collins Avenue. It pours wine, beer, sake, shochu and makgeolli by the glass, alongside a fermentation based cocktail list with low and no alcohol options. Raw oysters and bar snacks make up the food.
