P.S. bills itself as under the radar, underground and undercover, for those seeking good spirits and spirited good times in Kansas City. It is Hotel Phillips' contemporary incarnation of the 1930s speakeasy, an affectionate nod to the city's glamorous, freewheeling nightlife in days gone by, when such rooms welcomed travelers and locals alike. Artfully crafted cocktails come from mixologist James Williams, poured behind a bar concealed in a long forgotten basement mail sorting room that is reached only through an unmarked door. Nearly a century after the Eighteenth Amendment, the bar plays up its postal and Prohibition roots. All guests must be 21 or older to enter.
