Following the success of last year’s “Bols Around The World” competition, Bols plans to host another Cocktail Battle in 2024. This year, bartenders from 20 countries are invited to create a cocktail icon under the theme “BOLS Disco Cocktail.” The competition kicks off on April 1, 2024.
It’s time to go retro, as old-school drinks are back in vogue. The colorful and flavorful cocktails that dominated the 70s, extended into the 80s, and even into the 90s, are making a comeback as true modern classics. Cocktail icons like the Blue Hawaii, Grasshopper, Harvey Wallbanger, Cosmopolitan, and Espresso Martini are once again gracing cocktail menus worldwide.
Seizing this trend, Bols is launching the “Bols Cocktail Battle.” The challenge: participants must use Bols liqueurs to create a “Disco Cocktail of the new era,” giving it a unique modern twist. The goal is to craft a cocktail that’s fun, thrilling, and extravagant, turning the night into an unforgettable experience.
This year’s competition kicks off on April 1, 2024. In the first phase, contestants are to upload the recipe of their reinterpretation along with an image or video and a description at bolscocktailbattle.com. The submission deadline is May 17. From all entries, winners will be initially chosen by the Bols Cocktail Academy team to compete against each other. In the second round, the final, cocktails will be judged by a selected panel of experts. Evaluation criteria include the cocktail’s originality and innovation, practicality, taste and aroma, the spirit’s expression, and the presentation of the drink.
