Himkok, the award-winning Oslo cocktail bar ranked No. 10 on The World’s 50 Best Bars list, has launched a striking new menu that blends mixology with Scandinavian design. Created in partnership with design duo Studio Sløyd and creative agency 2.edition, the menu—titled Designed by Sipping—transforms 13 signature cocktails into bespoke design objects crafted from glass, ceramics, textiles, and wood.
Each cocktail has been reimagined as a functional or sculptural item, inviting guests to taste, touch, and experience drinks in a whole new way. Studio Sløyd, known for their playful approach to Nordic craft, drew inspiration from the traditional Scandinavian concept of sløyd—a hands-on exploration of materials taught in schools across the region.
Highlights from the Menu
Softis
A creamy, dessert-inspired cocktail rooted in Norwegian nostalgia. Built on LINIE Aquavit and Diplom-Is ice cream with Disaronno, White Dutch Cacao, and Fino Sherry, it’s a luxurious treat evoking long summer days and soft-serve cones by the fjord. Its design partner is a sculptural clock, created by Studio Sløyd to capture the swirling, fleeting temporality of melting ice cream.

Cherry
A bold, velvety reimagining of the Manhattan. Crafted with Buffalo Trace, Merlet Cherry Liqueur, Carpano Dry, dark chocolate, and a butter-washed finish, it delivers notes of fruit, oak, and cocoa. Studio Sløyd paired it with a moody floor lamp that channels the cocktail’s depth and quiet sophistication.

Cherry Tomato
Earthy, savory, and lightly spicy, this serve is built on Himkok x LINIE Aquavit, mezcal, green paprika distillate, cherry pepper, and Skott Gård Plum Wine, brightened with vinegar to celebrate Norway’s late-summer harvest. Its design counterpart is a wooden chair, reflecting the cocktail’s grounding character.

Carrot
Playful yet refined, this cocktail combines Himkok Gin, Martini aperitifs, fresh carrot, and Mandarine Napoléon, rounded with a touch of Fireball for depth, gentle heat, and a rebellious edge. Studio Sløyd translated the balance of warmth and vibrancy into an expressive candle holder.

Fika
A tribute to Scandinavia’s beloved coffee break. Blending GRIND Espresso Liqueur, Teeling Whiskey, Humlesus Aga alcohol-free cider, and a hint of Lagavulin 16, it delivers grounding richness with subtle peat smoke. Its design companion is a handcrafted cafetière, embodying functionality and thoughtful design.

Other creations spotlight Nordic ingredients like cloudberries, cardamom, cucumber, and plums—each paired with a custom object that extends the story of the drink.
Exhibition & Auction
The full collection will debut in Oslo during Designers Saturday, where visitors can see the cocktails and design works in a gallery-style exhibition. All 13 pieces will then be auctioned via Énuke.art on September 11, allowing design and cocktail enthusiasts to bring the collaboration home.
A New Standard in Bar Innovation
Bar Manager Maroš Dzurus and Head of R&D Paul Aguilar describe the collaboration as a reflection of Himkok’s ethos: “Experimental, deeply rooted in Nordic heritage, but always curious and forward-thinking.” Studio Sløyd adds: “Cocktails are fleeting by nature. Our goal was to freeze that moment and let taste live beyond the glass”.
With Designed by Sipping, Himkok once again cements its reputation as a pioneer, blending hospitality with creativity in ways that go far beyond the bar counter.
