Campari Academy Brings Hands-On Education to BCB Berlin 2024

Campari Academy is back at Bar Convent Berlin (BCB) 2024, offering a dynamic lineup of workshops, talks, and one-on-one sessions designed to elevate the careers of bartenders. This year’s theme, ‘9 Steps to Success’, will provide participants with hands-on experiences and insights, making it a must-attend for hospitality professionals. The two-day summit, held from Monday, October 14th to Tuesday, October 15th, will take place at the Grand Campari Hotel, a creative takeover of Soho House Berlin.

Empowering Bartenders Through Practical Learning

The 2024 Campari Academy Suite will feature an array of sessions curated to foster professional growth, enhance skills, and spark creativity within the bar industry. Creative Director Monica Berg shared her vision for this year’s program: “Our goal is to equip bartenders with the skills, insights, and tools they need to excel, while building meaningful connections within the industry. This year’s program is designed to inspire and empower bartenders, helping them reach new heights in their careers.”

Highlights of the Campari Academy 2024 Program

The educational summit will include workshops and talks from industry leaders, as well as the debut of the Campari Academy’s ‘Media Centre’—a new initiative to help bartenders refine their professional profiles. Attendees can book exclusive one-on-one sessions with industry experts to enhance their public image, learn how to navigate media interactions, and discover ways to stand out professionally.

Day 1 Workshops – Monday, October 14th:

  1. Let’s Get Technical: Alternative Flavour Creativity
    Instructor: Iain McPherson (Panda & Sons)
    This workshop will explore unconventional cocktail-making techniques, demonstrating how culinary “no-nos” can lead to innovative drink creations.
  2. The Art of Building a Brand That People Can Fall in Love With
    Instructor: Miranda Dickson
    Learn practical steps to evolve a business into a brand, with tips on differentiating and effectively communicating your brand identity.

Day 2 Talks – Tuesday, October 15th:

  1. What Does It Take to Run a Successful Bar – And What Is Success Anyway?
    Join Monica Berg and a panel of esteemed guests, including Joerg Meyer, Jeffrey Morgenthaler, and Eric van Beek, as they discuss the many facets of bar success.
  2. Building Inclusive Workspaces in Hospitality
    Speaker: Elin Ferm, NORM Consulting
    Gain valuable insights on how to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion within your team and create a socially sustainable work environment.
  3. Growing Great Teams: From Hiring to Development
    Speaker: Richie Barrow, Group General Manager at Tribe Hotels Group
    Learn how to build and manage high-performing teams with unconventional hiring practices and development strategies.
  4. What Even Is PR? And How Do You Harness Its Power?
    Speakers: Alex Chatwin & Alex Irving, Founders of LX
    This talk will break down the role of PR in hospitality, what it can and can’t do, and how to use it to elevate your venue’s success.

Introducing the Campari Academy Media Centre

The Media Centre will run throughout both days, offering personalized guidance on how to enhance your professional presence:

  • How to Get the Perfect Portrait
    Instructor: Dennis Dorwarth
    Participants will receive a tailored headshot session, with expert guidance on poses and expressions to capture their personal brand.
  • Building Healthy Relationships with Media
    Instructor: Carlo Carnevale
    Gain insights on managing interviews and press encounters to boost your industry presence.
  • How to Stand Out Professionally
    Instructor: Christine Wiseman
    Discover strategies for networking, interviewing, and developing your unique professional identity.

Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion

Each day will culminate in a collaborative pop-up bar created in partnership with Ellə’s Empowerment. Running from 6:00 pm to midnight on both days, this bar will promote diversity, individuality, and equity within the hospitality industry, demonstrating how small details can create welcoming and inclusive environments.
